These photos were taken during my trip to Europe in April of 2004. The trip included Moscow, Berlin, and France, and the photos give a glimpse of East, Central, and Western Europe, more than a decade after the lifting of the Iron Curtain. In case that last statement makes the photos sound a little prententious, I should clarify; they're just vacation photos. And there are a LOT of them (close to 500.) I'm not trying to provide any sort of comprehensive portrait of modern Europe, or editorialize about the things I saw, but I thought this might make an interesting photo journal of my travels. So I hope you enjoy it.

Friday, April 2, 2004: Depart Washington, DC, for Moscow, by way of Toronto, on Aeroflot, who loses my luggage. (No photos)

Saturday, April 3, 2004: Arrive in Moscow to visit my friend Barb, and stop by Red square around dusk.

Sunday, April 4, 2004: Tour the city a little w/ Barb, visit Ismailova, Gorky Park, and the Hotel Sputnik, and contract food poisoning.

Monday, April 5, 2004: SUFFER from food poisoning. (No photos - thank me very much)

Tuesday, April 6, 2004: Use "tourism therapy" to defeat food poisoning; walk around downtown Moscow before flying to Berlin.

Tuesday, April 6, 2004: Arrive in Berlin to visit my friend Christel. Buy underwear, as Aeroflot still has not found my luggage.

Wednesday, April 7, 2004: See a lot of Berlin.

Thursday, April 8, 2004: Return to Moscow, visit VDNKh, The former Soviet "Exhibition of Economic Achievements," now a flea market.

Friday, April 9, 2004: Visit the Kremlin, Fly to Paris, meet up w/ Michelle Mancini.

Saturday, April 10, 2004: Ask Michelle Mancini to marry me, play chicken w/ the train schedule to Avignon.

Sunday, April 11, 2004: See lots of stuff in Avignon, including the infamous flying jesus turtle. (Did you know there's a song about the bridge?)

Monday, April 12, 2004: Wander around Lyon.

Tuesday, April 13, 2004: Return to Paris, wander around.
